Terminal is an energetic, danceable work describing the electric atmosphere of an airport terminal, from morning until night. Repetitive rhythmic structures, symbolising the constant hustle and bustle of an airport, provide the link between a majestic introduction and the central section of the work, which travels through a world tinged with 80s/90s pop and funk music. This section also showcases the ensemble's various soloists and the percussion register, before the work returns to its original character.
The piece was commissioned by the Swiss National Youth Brass Band for the 2025 session of its B ensemble, also marking the ensemble's 50th anniversary. It was premiered in July 2025, conducted by Stefan Roth.
