Ses paysages fascinent : montagnes enneig\u00e9es, lacs entour\u00e9s de verdure, fleuves arpentant des vall\u00e9es escarp\u00e9es, for\u00eats \u00e0 perte de vue sont autant de cartes postales magnifiques ; ses traditions,\n                      son plurilinguisme et son histoire en font un pays d\u2019un h\u00e9ritage culturel riche ; de m\u00eame, la tradition de la musique \u00e0 vent est centrale en suisse \u2013 et notamment, la musique de marche. Tous ses \u00e9l\u00e9ments m\u2019ont inspir\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation\n                      d\u2019une \u0153uvre rendant hommage \u00e0 mon pays, non pas dans un \u00e9lan de patriotisme, mais plut\u00f4t avec les yeux \u00e9merveill\u00e9s d\u2019un voyageur visitant et d\u00e9couvrant le pays.<\/p>\n                    <p>L\u2019\u0153uvre m\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 command\u00e9e par le <em>Swiss Armed Forces Brass Band <\/em>et son chef, le Major Philipp Werlen, qui ne fut autre que mon commandant de compagnie lors de mon \u00e9cole de recrues. En guise de clin d\u2019\u0153il, de nombreuses r\u00e9f\u00e9rences\n                      au r\u00e9pertoire d\u2019ordonnance de la musique militaire suisse pars\u00e8ment cette \u0153uvre.<\/p>\n                    <p>Tous les mouvements peuvent \u00eatre jou\u00e9s <em>attacca<\/em>, mais diverses solutions permettent \u00e0 chaque mouvement d\u2019\u00eatre jou\u00e9 s\u00e9par\u00e9ment et\/ou dans un ordre diff\u00e9rent que celui propos\u00e9 ici.<\/p>\n                    <p>I<strong>. \u2013 Prelude \u00b7 4\u203210\u2019\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n                    <p>Le premier mouvement est un hommage enjou\u00e9 et enthousiaste aux paysages helv\u00e9tiques. D\u00e9butant par un motif de fanfare bas\u00e9e qui ne sera sans rappeler un c\u00e9l\u00e8bre classique du r\u00e9pertoire militaire suisse, il \u00e9voque ensuite la beaut\u00e9\n                      des paysages en alternant entre un th\u00e8me original simple et lyrique et des moments de musique \u00e9pique. Des extraits du <em>Cantique suisse <\/em>compos\u00e9 par Alberich Zwyssig (1808-1854) servent de base au mat\u00e9riel th\u00e9matique de ce\n                      rondo introductif et virtuose.<\/p>\n                    <p><strong>II. \u2013 Meditation and Song \u00b7 7\u203230<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: &quot;Open Sans&quot;; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">\u2019\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n                    <p>Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement met \u00e0 l\u2019honneur le cornet solo et le hackbrett (ou vibraphone). Inspir\u00e9 du&nbsp;<em>Vermahnlied an die Eigenossenschaft<\/em>, tir\u00e9 du r\u00e9pertoire de la Musique militaire suisse, il constitue un clin d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble\n                      commanditaire. Une introduction m\u00e9ditative, \u00e9voquant la qui\u00e9tude des paysages lacustres suisses, laisse \u00e9merger des lignes m\u00e9lodiques au caract\u00e8re improvis\u00e9, puis c\u00e8de la place \u00e0 une section plus lyrique, propice \u00e0 l\u2019expression des\n                      solistes.<\/p>\n                    <p><strong>III. &#8211; Pastorale \u00b7 4\u201940\u2019\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n                    <p>Le troisi\u00e8me mouvement, qui fait office de&nbsp;<em>scherzo<\/em>, rend hommage \u00e0 la tradition populaire suisse. Apr\u00e8s une courte introduction alpestre, un ensemble de cuivres musique populaire (2 Schwyzer\u00f6rgeli, 1 contrebasse et de\n                      cuill\u00e8res, \u00e9ventuellement 1 hackbrett, le tout pouvant \u00eatre remplac\u00e9 par un petit ensemble de cuivres) alterne avec l\u2019ensemble dans une marche (ou <em>Schottisch<\/em>) pleine d\u2019humour et de gait\u00e9. Toute r\u00e9f\u00e9rence musicale \u00e0 une marche\n                      portant le nom d\u2019un des plus grands cantons de Suisse est \u00e9videmment fortuite\u2026<\/p>\n                    <p><strong>IV. \u2013 Elegy \u00b7 6\u203230\u2019\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n                    <p>Le quatri\u00e8me mouvement rend hommage \u00e0 la tradition musicale populaire de la chanson harmonis\u00e9e, depuis longtemps ancr\u00e9e dans le r\u00e9pertoire de nos ch\u0153urs villageois. J\u2019en ai repris certains codes, modes et particularit\u00e9s au sein d\u2019un\n                      mouvement m\u00e9ditatif et plaintif, mettant en lumi\u00e8re le bugle et l\u2019euphonium solo. Un <em>finale<\/em> grandiose en tutti \u00e9voque quant \u00e0 lui les traditions religieuses qui ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 le pays, ainsi que la majest\u00e9 des cath\u00e9drales dress\u00e9es\n                      sur le sol helv\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n                    <p><strong>V. \u2013 Masked Dance \u00b7 4\u201930\u2019\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n                    <p>Le dernier mouvement, <em>Maskentanz<\/em>, puise son inspiration dans les traditions culturelles suisses. De nombreuses l\u00e9gendes helv\u00e9tiques \u00e9voquent monstres, sorci\u00e8res et autres cr\u00e9atures imaginaires, t\u00e9moignant du lien profond entre\n                      l\u2019humanit\u00e9 et la nature. Certaines traditions ancestrales cultivent ainsi un imaginaire \u00e0 la fois fascinant et inqui\u00e9tant, notamment dans le Haut-Valais avec les Tsch\u00e4gg\u00e4tt\u00e4, ou \u00e0 Urn\u00e4sch, dans le canton d\u2019Appenzell Rhodes-Int\u00e9rieures,\n                      avec les Silvesterchl\u00e4use. Ces d\u00e9fil\u00e9s envo\u00fbtants prennent ici la forme d\u2019une danse endiabl\u00e9e aux mesures irr\u00e9guli\u00e8res, offrant \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble l\u2019occasion de d\u00e9montrer sa solidit\u00e9 technique et rythmique.
